This year saw our first Junior Dance Intensive for 7-11 year olds and what a success it was. The Seniors and Juniors all came together on the last day and the parents were blown away by the amazing dancing from all involved.
Day 1 we had the amazing Adam Fogarty for Commercial and Ruth Devine for some Musical Theatre, the students had a ball and the seniors managed to learn the Hot Honey Rag from Chicago in 1 workshop!
Day 2 we had Ruth back for some more Musical Theatre with the Juniors. They did Step in time from the new Mary Poppins movie and it went down a treat. The afternoon brought us the amazing Rachel Tracey (who has just been announced as one of Dance World’s brand ambassadors for the year) The students got so much from Rachel and I even picked up some new technique exercises myself.
Day 3 we welcomed the amazing Shauna Finn from Dancing with the Stars. The students learned all about the basics and character of all the Latin dances and gained 2 more performance pieces for the big display. The afternoon brought a real treat for seniors in the form of Leon Dywer, he introduced students to breakdancing, waving and popping. I have honestly never seen more accomplished in a 2 hour workshop.
Day 4 a little bruised from Leon the day before but feeling ready for more the students had an amazing morning with Elaine Roche from Unique Dance & Gymnastics. Elaine worked on flexibility, strength and tricks and the students seen some real improvement throughout. She also thought the 2 groups a Lyrical piece for their display.
Last but by no means least Senior Students welcomed the dance king himself Neil O’Brien for an afternoon of Technique, Technique and more Technique. This class was amazing for students, they got so much from the class and ended with a beautiful emotional dance ready for parents the next day.
Day 5 was the big performance day and we had a fun morning of practice and treats from The Butlers Pantry. We also gifted the Juniors with little tubs of sweets from the wonderful Treat Boutique Dublin. The Junior students were fuelled, face painted by Spectacular events and ready to go. The parents were blown away with all the performances and Abigail Mooney walked away with a scholarship for Kinetix Dance School for the year.
The afternoon brought the seniors turn and the wonderful NKD Pizza provided us with lots of fuel for the 8 dances they performed for parents. The performance was amazing and myself and the students agreed we had really nailed the line up this year. Chloe Walsh Byrne was the lucky senior to walk away with the scholarship this year and we can’t wait to have her dancing with us.
